The instructions require a little attention, but once you’ve discerned what’s going on in the manual, you’ll master assembly. With this double machine, you can be sure that you will get an overall body workout. It isn’t just a machine fit for aerobic training. You get a little bit of strength training in there too. There is a manual that shows you how you can do the strength training. The diagrams are easy to follow.
If you’re out of shape and looking to lose weight, the machine can sustain the weight of someone as heavy as 250 pounds. It’s a big machine, measuring 74.5 inches by 25.5 inches by 10 inches.
Stamina 15-9003 Deluxe Conversion II Recumbent/Rower Features
The machine features an upper bar for working on the upper body, with the ability to perform triceps exercises and bicep curls. The resistance is magnetic rather than friction based. This makes for a great workout as it gives smoothness to any exercises, while retaining a resistance you’re unlikely to get on other machines. The machine has eight levels of this resistance. Eight doesn’t seem enough, but the machine is calibrated to perfection in this respect and you really don’t need to go all the way to 11, to quote Spinal Tap.
Computer Monitor on Stamina 15-9003 Deluxe
The Stamina 15-9003 Deluxe Conversion II Recumbent / Rower has a great liquid crystal display that is larger than many others of its kind. The quality of the screen is good, and the interface comprises several different modes. It covers the usual areas that you’d expect from such monitors, including:
- speed,
- revs per minute,
- calories burned,
- distance and
- time.
There is a hand pulse sensor in the hand grips of the machine, so you can check your heart rate if you need to.
The recumbent nature of the cycling element of the machine might be seen as a failing, but you are unlikely to find a rower that doubles as a cycling machine that isn’t a recumbent – and from what little use I’ve had of recumbent cyclers, this one is a great piece of machinery.
The focus is on low impact cardio vascular exercise, and both rowing and cycling are two great ways to do this. The major muscle groups are targeted using this machine, with a focus on the legs and buttocks for the cycling and a lot of focus on the upper body for the rowing. However, as mentioned above, you can also do strength building exercises such as bicep curls, triceps kickbacks, leg stretches and leg extensions.
The noiseless qualities of the Stamina 15-9003 Deluxe Conversion II Recumbent / Rower ought to be considered for those who live in apartment buildings where sound carries.
